Compressible Turbulence

The course objectives are to describe the modifications to turbulence by the effects of variable density and high velocity and thus to present the modelling and simulation methods of the underlying physical phenomena. Students will have the opportunity to better assess the role of turbulence in aerodynamics (present transport air craft in high subsonic regime, supersonic aircraft, spatial launchers, future trans-atmospheric vehicles..) and in industrial applications involving high velocities and strong temperature gradients.
