Experimental Labs

By Dr Romain MATHIS & Dr Christophe CUVIER

The objectives of these lab sessions are to provide students with a practical insight into the modern experimental techniques used routinely for the study of turbulence. Different experiments are set up depending on the ongoing research in research groups. The measurement techniques are mainly the Hot Wire Anemometry and Particle Image Velocimetry used worldwide for the study of turbulence. Students are to participate to the set-up of the experiment, take measurements, process them and then post-process the data to verify the theories taught in the turbulence lectures.
