Experimental Turbulence

The course objectives are to make students familiar with modern measurement techniques in fluid mechanics. Emphasis will be set on the advantages and drawbacks of each technique and on the accuracy of measurements.

  2. Fluid Mechanics facilities
  3. Force measurement
  4. Pressure measurement
  5. Hot Wire Anemometry
  6. Laser
  7. Laser Doppler Velocimetry
  8. Particle Image Velocimetry
Lectures will be complemented by practical work sessions on Hot Wire Anemometry and Particle Image Velocimetry, the two techniques in use to study turbulent flows.
